26. Crushing Dreams

As time passed, various articles in different magazines and newspapers highlighted Jungkook's art and his undeniable talent, causing a ripple effect that even reached the school where he used to teach. The familiar art style of Artist JK drew attention, leading many to speculate on the connection to the Jeon Jungkook they knew. However, they chose not to confirm anything until they had concrete information. One day, the principal of the school called Jungkook into his office, seeking a face-to-face conversation to discuss the ongoing developments. Although undoubtedly proud, the principal desired confirmation regarding the speculation surrounding the connection between Artist JK and their teacher, Jeon Jungkook.

"I must admit, we're never less proud to have you as a part of this academy, Mr. Jeon." The principal expressed, acknowledging Jungkook's significant contribution and artistic prowess.

"Thank you so much sir, it's my pleasure to be a part of your prestigious academy."

"You always leave everyone in amazement for how amazing you are, no doubt this reminds me of someone I know." The principal then passed him bunches of folded newspapers and magazines on the table, which seemed to contain articles about him as the anonymous artist JK.

"It can't be only me, is it?" The principal inquired and Jungkook looked down at the papers, amazed.

"Sir?"

"It's understandable, Jungkook, if you want to keep it private. It's a very smart choice to do so. I can't wait for the day you get ready to reveal yourself because when you will, it would not only benefit you but everyone around you. I hope you can inspire people on a large scale but for now if you're not ready it's okay." The principal, being a complete professional and a gentleman, had Jungkook melt by his words and intelligence to understand him.

"You're right sir. There's nothing to hide but I really need to carve myself more as an artist. I am not as big as they had portrayed me and I still want to learn more. I'll try to reveal once I think I'm worth it." Jungkook honestly confessed and the man on the chair could only smile.

"This shows how hard working you are. Even with the most amazing skills you're still willing to learn more, I'm so proud of you Jeon and don't worry Artist JK, we'll keep it a secret." The principal gave him a wink, a gesture to remain playful as well as maturely considerate for his choice.

"Thanks a lot sir."

Since that day, Jungkook had found a renewed sense of confidence. While he had been building trust in his abilities, having his first admirer in the form of the principal added a special significance. Although Taehyung had been his best praiser from the start, the acknowledgment from someone as significant as the principal brought an extra layer of joy to Jungkook's artistic journey. The one who had given Jungkook the opportunity to serve at the school at a very young age, despite lacking experience, was none other than the head of the academy, Choi Jungmin. He never doubted Jungkook's abilities, offering a chance that played a crucial role in shaping the artist's journey. True to his promise, Jungkook continued to dedicate himself to refining his abilities, and in doing so, he evolved into a truly unique and exceptional artist.

The same day, Taehyung repeated the familiar routine, spraying a bit of fragrance on his neck and clothes. As he checked his appearance in the mirror, anticipation fueled a rush of adrenaline in his blood. It was one of those mornings when the excitement of seeing Jungkook at school, followed by their time together later, marked the beginning and end of his days, creating a reassuring rhythm in his life. Satisfied with his appearance, Taehyung turned to gather his belongings and rushed down the stairs to join his family in the enchanting dining hall of the villa. The table adorned with captivating meals awaited him, and as he joined, the servants seamlessly served his family. The familiar symphony of shrill cutlery and utensils filled the hall, a routine that characterised their daily life.

"Good morning!" And through that shrill sound resonated Taehyung's sweet voice, catching his family's attention and they all instantly smiled to see the charm of the house.

"Good morning, sunshine," his mother replied promptly, and Taehyung responded with an immediate smile. He turned to his brother and father, who were engaged in conversation and hadn't reciprocated his greetings.

"I said good morning!" The youngest had to say it again a bit louder and his brother finally paid his attention to him, returning him a smile.

"Good morning."

"Good Morning, son."

The two finally returned the greetings and Taehyung seemed so satisfied.

"How's your school going?" His father initiated the conversation, taking note of Taehyung's artistic attire. However, Taehyung remained focused on his meal as the servants continued to serve him.

"It's going well, appa. I'm learning a lot everyday." Taehyung answered casually, not caring too much.

"That's really great then. I'm really loving how you're enjoying your time in that academy and learning for your future." His father praised, making the youngest smile proudly.

"Thanks, appa."

"Our family has been associated with this lineage of architects and I am so proud to have amazing sons like you two. Like how Jin served his youth in pursuing this pride, I can't wait to see you follow his steps. I can also see the progress in you which is really great. I hope you always make your father proud." His father said, a note of pride evident in his voice. However, something caught Taehyung's attention, causing him to pause in his meal for a moment.

"Architect? But our family already has many." Taehyung pointed, not seeming amused with the fact of being an architect in the future.

"We aren't just small architects, Taehyung. We had carried the weight of this responsibility, of our country, to serve people and lead this company your grandfather had established which only demands for more architects. We design and build a world around us. Don't you ever forget it." His father's words seemed to pass a heavy weight upon Taehyung's chest.

"But appa, hyung is an architect, you're an architect too. What would be there for me to serve? I wanna be an artist, a painter-"

"We all are artists, my son, architecture is an art."

Taehyung felt the weight of the situation and realised he couldn't debate with his father. His eyes sought guidance from his mother, who gestured for him to remain quiet. Glancing at his brother, who remained speechless, added to Taehyung's frustration as the tension in the room lingered.

"What if I don't want to be an architect?" Taehyung asked nonchalantly, putting down his cutlery out of frustration.

"You were born an architect, dear son. It's in your blood."

Taehyung reached a point of genuine frustration with his father's stubbornness. Uncertain of what more to say, his brother subtly squeezed his thigh under the table, urging him to refrain from further comments. The tension in the air lingered, and Taehyung chose silence as his response.

Taehyung let out a rough sigh, taking a deep breath to compose himself. He reached for the glass, taking a sip of water to cool down. Despite sitting for a while, the urge to eat had died. Excusing himself, he gathered his bag and made his exit from the house, choosing to step away from the lingering tension.

An awkward silence settled over the table after Taehyung's departure, with his brother and mother exchanging uncomfortable glances. The weight of their shared experiences in a family-driven profession was obvious. It was evident that both brothers were, in their own ways, being pushed into a professional dynasty, against their wills.

On the other hand, Jungkook was filled with delight after his encounter with the principal. Then, he yearned to see Taehyung, eager to reward him for being the source of his joy. The artist patiently awaited his bunnies to join him for the classes, but before that, he couldn't resist stealing a glance at the brunet. Jungkook stood in the hallway, eagerly waiting for Taehyung. Their meeting was inevitable later, but Jungkook was eager to see him once.

Luckily, Jungkook spotted the brunet entering soon after a group of people. His smile widened, his eyes eager to meet Taehyung's. There was something different in the way Taehyung walked each time towards him, as if every step served as a reminder of how he had walked into Jungkook's heart and life on that fine day.

But that very day, Taehyung's face bore a weight that didn't go unnoticed by Jungkook. Lost in constant thoughts on his way to school, Taehyung walked in a rush, seemingly unaware of his surroundings. He was so absorbed in his contemplation that he didn't even notice Jungkook standing by a wall in the hallway. The brunet continued walking without once looking up, and Jungkook sensed something unusual in his sudden change of behaviour. Patiently waiting for Taehyung to reach him, the artist was stung when, this time, Taehyung walked past him without acknowledging his presence. The unexpected dismissal left Jungkook with a sense of hurt and confusion. Despite various thoughts about why Taehyung acted that way, Jungkook couldn't shake off the concern. He was determined to find out the reason, as witnessing Taehyung's usually beautiful face clouded by misery was something Jungkook found truly distressing.

Despite making an effort to focus on teaching his students something new, Jungkook found Taehyung's thoughts continuously intruding into his mind, making it challenging to fully concentrate on the lesson. Fortunately, the half-day duration for the kids came to an end. Jungkook sent off his bunny squad with homework assignments and decided to step out, intent on finding the brunet during his break time. Jungkook walked into the corridor which was connected to the hall where Taehyung would usually have his classes. The artist waited patiently, watching as almost every student left, yet Taehyung remained in his place. Jungkook decided to persist, determined to catch him before leaving. Finally, when Taehyung started walking towards the stairs, Jungkook rushed to follow. Passing him, Jungkook caught Taehyung's hand and pulled him into the nearest restroom, fortunate that no one was there to witness the sudden move. And in a moment, Taehyung found himself against the restroom door, which Jungkook had shut. The artist's hands cradled Taehyung's cheeks as he tried to read the emotions in the brunet's eyes.

"What's wrong?" Jungkook asked with concern, and Taehyung felt a sudden relief upon seeing him, the tension in his expressions melting away after a while. Jungkook patiently waited for an answer, but Taehyung only smiled slightly, his gaze fixed on the artist's face.

"Talk to me, Tae, what happened?" Jungkook urged, and the brunet placed his hands on top of Jungkook's, resting against his cheeks.

"Nothing Kookie. I haven't caught sight of you."

"But I was just standing there for you," Jungkook gently reminded him, pulling Taehyung's face a bit closer to his own.

"I'm seriously fine, Kookie. I thought I was late, so I rushed. I'm sorry if I didn't notice you there," Taehyung explained, uncertainty evident in his words. It seemed like there might be more to share, but he was unsure if it was too significant to talk about.

"It's okay baby but don't keep things to yourself if anything's bothering you. It's unusual when you're like this." Jungkook said with worries laced in his voice that Taehyung felt extremely bad about.

"I'm completely fine, Kookie. I'm sorry I worried you, but seriously, don't worry. I'm okay."

"Sure?" Jungkook looked at him doubtfully.

"Maybe if you kiss me, I'll be more," Taehyung requested, and the artist was more than willing to oblige.

"I really want you to be okay," Jungkook whispered before pressing their lips together.

Taehyung was slightly pushed against the door as Jungkook kissed him shortly, the moment breaking apart too quickly.

"Now I completely am," Taehyung replied, revealing a genuinely bright smile. Jungkook could see a shift in his gaze, a bit brighter this time, and he felt a wave of relief wash over him. It was magical how a simple kiss from Jungkook could lift the weight off Taehyung's chest.

Wanting to ease all of Taehyung's miseries, this time the brunet initiated the kiss himself. Jungkook welcomed his lips lovingly, responding with equal dedication and helping deepen the kiss. They were each other's remedy. As much as it eased Taehyung, it also reassured the artist. Jungkook always wanted to see his baby happy, and if his kisses could achieve that, he was ready to kiss him forever.
