Jungkook's artistic brilliance is undeniable, yet a single hurdle remained – his talent remained hidden. Recognizing this, Taehyung committed himself to rectifying the situation, vowing to bring Jungkook's hidden brilliance into the limelight. As Taehyung's self-made promise neared fulfilment, Jungkook couldn't help but notice the brunet's increasing enthusiasm and apparent secrecy, finding his behaviour both suspicious and intriguing over the course of several days. Taehyung had already requested Jungkook to join him in meeting someone before their classes would begin, and while Jungkook had no objections, curiosity lingered in his mind as he pondered the identity of the mysterious guest. Breaking from their usual routine, Taehyung and Jungkook didn't walk together to Jungkook's home because on that particular day Taehyung had to bring a special guest to Jungkook's residence. Eagerly awaiting the arrival of the mysterious guest, Jungkook found the anticipation too much to bear. Unable to simply stand and stare at the door, he decided to channel his energy into creativity, choosing to work on one of his incomplete canvases, turning the anticipation into a burst of artistic expression.
He indulged himself in it completely for a while until knocks against his door caught him off guard. He had to put his brush down to look up, standing on cue to follow the knocks and before he could open the door, Taehyung already walked in.
"May I come in?" Taehyung asked, peeking his head out of the door.
"You already are." Jungkook replied, chuckling. Taehyung decided to walk inside, gesturing to someone to follow him in through his hand.
"Here he is, Jungkook-nim. He's my teacher and an insanely amazing artist." Without hesitation, Taehyung instantly introduced Jungkook to the man entering in his classic suit, the visitor's eyes scanning the interior of Jungkook's house with a discerning gaze.
"Oh hello!" The visitor greeted the artist, walking towards Jungkook who was still wondering who he was. Jungkook raised his eyebrows at Taehyung, questioning him about the man, meanwhile the man turned himself around, glancing at his artistic wall.
"Mmm, seems like a real artist, I see. The ambience screams passion, love to see it. Wow, you were painting something?" The man walked around in his living space freely, then standing by the canvas the artist was painting previously. Jungkook had to spare his attention back to Taehyung, still wondering who that guy was.
"Ah, Jungkook-nim, he's Mr. Lee. He works at the Trivia Exhibition & Auction Authority and he wanted to meet you for so long." Taehyung introduced the man to Jungkook who frowned slightly after realising why that man must be there in the first place.
"Oh yes, Jeon Jungkook, have heard a lot about you so yeah I had to meet." He then offered his hand for Jungkook to shake who looked down at his usual coloured hand.
"Ah nevermind." The man then tapped Jungkook's shoulder instead.
"Myself, Lee Minhyung, I work at the Trivia Exhibition & Auction Authority and my goal is to find artists like you." He introduced himself dramatically and Jungkook narrowed his eyes suspiciously.
"Okay?"
"And as already shared by Mr. Kim Taehyung, you're exactly how he had described me. Your work is so unique. The urban touch to traditional forms of art. Mind-blowing." The man in his tuxedo suit complimented.
"The paintings all around your wall, let me tell you, they behold a humongous amount." He remarked, pointing at his walls and Jungkook looked at him with an unamused expression.
"Look at that one, Mr. Lee." Taehyung excitedly pointed to one of his favourite ones, the man watching it in awe.
"Marvellous." He complimented, admiring the painting, below which was a statue.
"Hah, did you make this?" He asked with amazement and Jungkook hummed nonchalantly.
"Amazing! This deserves to be in a museum. Wow." He complimented one after another, taking pictures of the statue from his digital camera and then the paintings all around.
"Mind blowing!"
Observing Taehyung's excitement, Jungkook playfully wiggled his eyebrows, but confusion enveloped him as he felt a bit dumb, completely unaware of the situation.
"I'll send them to the authorities real soon so they can reserve a vacancy for you. We're going to hold a very much awaited exhibition real soon and Mr. Jeon Jungkook, you're wholeheartedly invited with your masterpieces. Sorry for taking your time. I have a big day at work. This is my card. Consider calling us real soon. Nice to meet you." In a hurry, the man handed Jungkook his card, leaving him still perplexed. With a quick smile, the man then turned around for his departure.
"Thanks for coming here! He'll call you soon Mr. Lee." Taehyung formally greeted lastly from behind, seeming too happy when he turned around to face Jungkook who was currently reading that card in his hands.
"Wait, what just happened?" Jungkook asked him, bewilderment evident on his face.
"Oh him? He's from the authorities." Taehyung informed him casually.
"And?"
"And he was here to see the very amazing artist."
"For what?"
"For your masterpieces."
"My masterpieces?"
"Yes, he'll help you display them in exhibitions and let me tell you, Jungkook-nim. Hyung just got a new painting which was sold in an auction after being displayed in an exhibition for so long and it is worth 500 grands and as per your creations they really are so worthy. You should give it a try." Despite Taehyung's enthusiastic attempts to convince him, Jungkook's expression remained unconvinced, his face telling a different story of uncertainty.
"And why are you doing this?" He asked nonchalantly with a blank face.
"Because you deserve it. You said your basement is gonna be filled soon so you can display some of them. I bet many people are waiting for something like this. You shouldn't keep them unseen, they deserve an exposure." Taehyung said in an enthusiastic way but Jungkook didn't budge a little, looking down at the card.
"I do this for my passion, Taehyung. I told you."
"But what's wrong with them being at the deserving places? They don't deserve to be settled in a basement or so." Taehyung debated and that's when Jungkook sighed roughly.
"You seriously didn't have to do it, Taehyung." Jungkook replied shortly and put the card down on the table.
"Then you didn't have to waste your one month on me. If favours aren't your thing then don't do the same for me. It was nice coming here." Expressing pure disappointment, Taehyung uttered his words, picking up his bag and preparing to leave which definitely had Jungkook in panic who hurriedly rushed to him, clutching Taehyung's wrist to halt his departure.
"Hey!" He called out but Taehyung didn't turn, lips pouty in sheer disappointment as he averted his gaze away from the artist, showing loudly to the artist that he was upset.
It was the least Jungkook would ever want to see. As Taehyung was on the brink of leaving, Jungkook felt his heart nearly jumping out of his chest, a surge of realisation compelling him not to take the risk of letting him go.
"I didn't do a favour on you, Tae, it's actually you who is worth the time we had spent together." He expressed himself to Taehyung who turned himself around to face the artist.
"Then this is not a favour too that I'm helping your masterpieces find a deserving place. I actually don't understand why you keep yourself hidden when you can just show yourself to the world how amazing you are."
"Tae I'm not-"
"Yes you are. You are seriously amazing but your drawback is that you're selfless. You have the potential that you keep hidden. I want the world to see you how I see you." Taehyung spoke with a slight of aggression hidden beneath but his words were too endearing, lovely eyes staring at Jungkook's, almost convincing that the artist couldn't deny anymore.
"How do you see me?" In an unexpected moment, Jungkook posed a question without fully grasping its significance, and Taehyung, as determined as he seemed, was quick to respond without taking a step back.
"I see you as an amazing artist of all time. A person with a selfless and way too humble attitude and a dumb head who doesn't want to do something beyond." Taehyung's blend of compliments and playful insults was so balanced that Jungkook couldn't resist but chuckle at the amusing mix of praise and teasing.
"And why are you so determined to see me exposed?" Jungkook asked lowering his head towards Taehyung who stared at him blankly, not knowing what he meant with this and once Jungkook realised what he meant he stood back straight, looking away.
"Ah… anyway… you're staying here for today's lessons okay?" Jungkook spoke sternly, changing the topic real quick.
"First tell me, will you call Mr. Lee?" Taehyung asked like a stubborn child and Jungkook rolled his eyes, feeling a little playful as he pretended to think on purpose to tease him.
"I'll think about it." He replied and Taehyung carried the card from the table and walked towards Jungkook, sliding it into the front pocket of his plaid shirt.
"No more thinking, it's time to do something." He suggested in a motivating way and Jungkook only shifted his gaze down to his lips.
"Will you stay for the lessons now?" He asked, eyes still focused on his lips.
"Yes I will." Taehyung said, walking over to take his seat against the wooden table where he put his bag down again, ready for his lessons.
"Thankfully. By the way you scared me today, I thought you really wouldn't." Jungkook confessed, sitting next to him.
"Oh does this mean I can really scare Jungkook-nim?" Taehyung asked playfully and Jungkook only chuckled, but couldn't disagree.
"Yeah maybe."
"I'll take note of it." Taehyung whispered, then proceeded to take out his pencils and sketchbook while Jungkook only stared at him.
"Roar!" Suddenly attempting to startle Jungkook, Taehyung's efforts fell short as the elder burst into laughter, seemingly unaffected by the attempted scare.
"Ah I'm scared!" Jungkook said dramatically and watching him laugh Taehyung started laughing too.
"I thought you were really scared."
"Scared of this roar? Not actually."
"Then what?"
"Of you letting go-'' and Jungkook held himself back from saying because he noticed how Taehyung's laughter was gone and crinkled eyes switched back to the round big doe ones. Jungkook felt his emotions being exposed and Taehyung seemed perplexed, as well as flustered. The brunet decided to look away when Jungkook averted his gaze back to his hands out of bashfulness. The brunet gently flicked his brown locks away from his sight with his fingers, looking down at the table just as timidly.
"Then you shouldn't be scared, Jungkook." And this was the first time in forever Jungkook heard him calling his name, without using the ‘nim’ suffix. Was he finally breaking the boundary of previous norms? As breathtaking as it was, Jungkook turned to face Taehyung to confirm what he just said but the other one who smiled softly was still looking down at his hands.
"What did you just call me?" Jungkook had to ask for confirmation and Taehyung lifted his head up to look at him, blinking innocently.
"Your name." He whispered like it was no big deal, the mischief hidden behind his innocent gestures had Jungkook feeling out of breath, such a tease.
"And what is it?" Jungkook asked again, willing to hear one more time.
"I thought you knew." Taehyung kept on playing his silly little game until Jungkook gently took his hand into his own, turning Taehyung completely towards himself.
"Say it." Jungkook requested, staring right into Taehyung's eyes, attempting to capture every detail of his face. Despite the intense scrutiny, Taehyung remained unfazed, locking eyes with Jungkook without hesitation.
"Jungkook." Taehyung finally whispered and Jungkook's eyes fell down on his lips.
"Say it again." He requested so gently.
"Jungkook." Fearlessly, Taehyung whispered his name until Jungkook's hand gently travelled up to his face, palm resting against his cheek as they exchanged a silent, meaningful gaze.
"Why don't you call me this from now on?" He whispered, playing with free strands of hair belonging to the brunet, tucking them behind his ear in a way to groom him until it revealed the tiny diamond piece in his earlobe. Taehyung allowed himself to be melted by the tender touch, feeling like a lovelorn heart craving more affection. He leaned his head further into Jungkook's palm, who, unable to find words, felt an overwhelming sense of pride. In that moment, he cherished the privilege of seeing Taehyung freely and intimately just like that. Gulping his inhibitions away and feeling risky Jungkook closed the distance more.
"You're too hard to copy with colours, Taehyung. How can you be so unique?" Jungkook asked, leaving Taehyung to wonder about the meaning behind those words.
"Did you try to copy me?" The younger one asked bluntly and Jungkook had to look at those eyes again. He couldn't lie or he couldn't even reveal that he did paint him without his consent so they just stared at each other in a burning silence until Taehyung decided to ask him to do what he always wanted him to do.
"I want you to paint me." The words fell off his mouth so bluntly. Could Jungkook deny it?
